I still have a Radeon 9800 PRO to install - that might take a while now. Making one change and letting it run a few days. With the PSU on, I get only 5 volts on the -12v pin of the 20 pin ATX. I even took my multitester to the X-Dreamer PSU since I am now getting nothing. Should I go ahead and replace both mobo and CPU or just the CPU to start with? Before I do so, I think I will try the Thermaltake in an older MSI Athlon 700 system I have here. What do I tell them? Sould I switch the PSU to Enermax?
I get nothing when I put the cheap X-Dreamer's PSU back in. No, all fans and drives come on with the Thermaltake PSU. What do I replace? How is Newegg with returns? The Thermaltake specs: Peak Load = 550W +5v = 40A +3.3v = 30A +12v = 18A -5v = 0.3A -12v = 0.8A +5VSB = 2A. Should I avoid Thermaltake PSUs? All components were bought from Newegg. Is my Athlon 64 fried? Is my K8T Neo damaged? Is the Thermaltake PSU bad? That one now does nothing when I turn on the system - no power, no fans, nothing. I put the original 350W PSU that had worked back in. The mobo's manual states 'The D-LED will hang here if the processor is damaged or not installed properly'. The hard drives do spin up, and all fans work. The D-Bracket lights all red, the 2 CD-Rom drive's lights flash repeatedly, and the hard drive light on the front panel remains on. All subsequent boots failed at 'System Power On'. Thermaltake Silent Purepower 480W PSU Thermaltake launches Purepower RX series power. In the motherboard manual it says I need 24 or 20pin power and 8-pin 12v.
Thus enabling the Manual Speed Control through the VR Control Knob from. With that came Thermaltake's answer: the 480W Silent Purepower Series of Power. After replacement tonight, I got one good boot into Windows XP. This PSU was only 350W, so I bought a Thermaltake Silent Purepower 480W model W0014RU (W/O PFC). I was using the PSU (see system specs) that came in the X-Dreamer II Case. My setup below had been working well since I built it Saturday.
